Hi,
I have a horrible time without caffeine. I now only drink green tea but I feel I drink a lot of it maybe 3-5 cups a day. I just don’t think I could continue working without the extra push from the tea.
Any suggestions on how to get energy when you need it without the caffeine. Right now I just feel tired all the time. In the afternoon, I usually have to take a nap but never wake up refreshed.
Is there any way to get past that slumpiness without tea or coffee? Is there a tea or anything that gives you energy without taxing the adrenals?
Luckily I don’t take sugar in the tea.
Thanks,
John

For the most part, anything that gives you the energy ‘hit’ that you’re taking about will also tend to tax the adrenals. Green tea is, as you’ve realized, much mellower than coffee and doesn’t give that energy burst that you might be used to.
I would look at the reasons why you’re so tired and craving that buzz in the first place. Are you sleeping well, or enough? Are you eating a nutritious, balanced diet? Do you do enough (not too much) exercise?
There are also supplements like D-Ribose that can help to boost your energy levels. The long term solution though, is to find out why you’re so tired and address the underlying cause.
I hope that helps!

I was exactly like you. Annabel is right, what goes up, must come down.
But, there are some natural ways you can alleviate the symptoms.
I’ve found that 30 minutes of YOGA NIDRA a day can refresh better than a 2 hour nap. You don’t need a mat or a studio, you can find the practice on you tube or in an app. It’s essentially yogic sleep.
To get you energy going, try some Khundalini breathing like ” breath of fire” this oxygenates your blood naturally. There’s many of these techniques out there. Qui Gong is another really helpful practice. It;s facster than Thai Chi and you can do it anywhere. You can find these all online.
The stimulants have to go my friend, it’s the only way you get better. But, these are practices that can help you be healthy for life. You will get better. Listen to your body. Take care and good luck!

I have suffered from severe social anxiety as far as I can remember. Basically any interaction, even just being in school caused me great panic. I also have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. However, I think it is the years of extreme anxiety 20-30 years that just stressed out my system. I am getting better mentally but my I feel my body just shut down from the years of stress.
Right now I am really stressed out that I don’t have enough energy to live a normal life or even work. I am always worried about working.
As far as sleeping I have to sleep atleast 10 hours a day with a 30-45 minute nap in the afternoon. I actually am kind of depressed about that as I feel I am sleeping my life away.
I’ve started eating a better diet as I developed many food sensitivities. I didn’t know what was causing my allergies. So if I don’t eat healthy I get terrible allergy like symptoms.
I haven’t been exercising but am just starting with walking…
I think it is more the lifelong dealings with stress through panic and anxiety. Now, I am just trying to heal myself…

Thank you for your reply. I will look into your suggestions.
I have eliminated coffee and just drink green tea now and am working on lowering that. I never use any sugar.
From the videos it says to do it gradually as ridding yourself of caffeine can be stressing itself. Plus at this time, I don’t know what else to do. I need to work and support myself. My work involves a lot of driving so if I am too sleepy it is dangerous. So I am not going to stop completely at this moment.
Thanks,
John

I tried your suggestions and the breath of fire breathing really seems to help. I think maybe with these tools I might be able to stop the tea even.
Thank you,
John
