I have been so tired recently and I’m hoping someone here can give me some answers! Or at least point me in the right direction 🙂
I got super-tired during exams late last year and I feel like I just never recovered. I put on weight, I have no energy, and I constantly crave things like tortilla chips. I just have no energy to do stuff with my family, which really sucks. People are telling me not to be ‘lazy’, but I don’t think they really understand how I feel.
I know the low energy and the food cravings might be symptoms of adrenal fatigue. But how can I know for sure? Over the last few weeks I’ve tried cleaning up my diet and resting more, but it doesn’t doesn’t seem to be helping, not yet anyway. What do you think????
Hi sarahjane, those symptoms certainly sound indicative of adrenal fatigue. The tiredness comes from the disruption of your HPA axis, while the food cravings some from imbalances in blood glucose and aldosterone.
Have you considered testing? One of the best ways to diagnose adrenal fatigue is through a 24 hour salivary cortisol test. If your cortisol cycle is dysregulated, there is a very good chance you are suffering from adrenal fatigue.
Do you find yourself constantly fatigued, and struggling to get out of bed in the mornings? Do you feel unable to cope with stressful situations? If so, you might be suffering from Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome.
